Study and Intern Program at University of Seville, Spain
 |
The Study-Intern Program at the University of Seville was conceived
for those interested in staying in Spain for 6 to 12 months. It combines
credit courses in business and tourism with the real-life challenges of
an internship in a Spanish business in Seville. It was designed
to confer a solid competitive advantage to the many people who are
passionate about European culture and wish to improve their Spanish
while making social and professional contacts for the future. Backed
by four centuries of experience and tradition, the University of
Seville offers BEST´s participants a curriculum in English and
Spanish, bilingual coordination and the convenience of being located in
the center of historic Seville.
There´s only one way to become the multicultural, multilingual
businessperson that today´s society requires: live it.
This program allows you to elect up to 15 university credits each
semester which you will combine with an internship in a Spanish
firm to improve your Spanish in a professional as well as an academic
setting.
It is an economic solution for those who wish to combine exposure
to people, life and pleasure with something more practical:
- The chance to gain an international professional experience
for your resume.
- Exposure to the customs and protocols of Spanish organizations.
- Exposure to the techniques and business vocabulary in an international
arena for a global perspective.
- The opportunity to apply theory to real world situations.
- First time, or a new and different work experience.
- Foment your communication ability in Spanish, self-confidence,
responsibility, maturity all factors which we can consider
as important as, if not more, than a good academic background.
- Improve your job perspectives.
|
Advantages:
- This program is organized by a Spanish and American team with expertise
in the academic and business worlds. They know that one learns as much
from the opinions and experience of colleagues as from professors.
- In Seville students enjoy a vibrant active community, in class and
out.
- The program was designed with an eye to lowering costs for international
academic and professional exposure and maintaining higher value.
- This program means you will have the opportunity to gain the linguistic
and cultural fluency that only time and experience impart. Bilingual
means more than proficient. We provide you with the structures to acquire
a high level of business and academic Spanish and you provide the dedication
and work needed to emerge with a potent competitive advantage.
The advantages you will enjoy are enhancing your bilingualism, gaining
university credits and improving yourself professionally in a practical
setting while living in Spain.
3 Program Features
Academic Features
The internship program provides a 2-week intensive language course in Madrid upon your arrival. This course will prepare you for cultural immersion socially, linguistically and professionally. The intensive language course is mandatory for all participants except native Spanish speakers.
Students may choose courses from a wide
range of undergraduate classes in the areas of Business Administration,
Economics, Accounting, Tourism Studies and Andalusian studies. Most courses
are taught in Spanish, with the exception of six in English.
Students are expected to take a lot of responsibility for organizing their own time and work. Attendance will be monitored be each professor. Periodical homework assignments and final exams will also be administered.
Classes are a mixture of Spanish and international students.
Academic credit and transcripts will be issued by Seville University after the successful completion of course requirements for the semester.
We recommend contacting your academic advisor, department chair and/or study abroad advisor to obtain written approval for the courses you select. It is the studentís responsibility to contact their academic advisor to determine if the courses taken while in Seville will transfer to their home institution. If you are not sure about what course to attend our on-site Student Affairs Coordinator can advise you.

BEST's housing
policy exists to assist the participants of its programs.
BEST recommends that the candidate arrive in Madrid a weekend before
the commencement of your language course to look for lodging which
corresponds with your needs. However, if this is not convenient
for you, at no extra cost, we will find you a shared apartment with
other participants or Spanish roommates. Sometimes we can find creative
solutions to lodging such as exchanging receptionist work in a hostel
for a room.
These are the options we make available:
1. You can sign up for a shared student apartment. These are normally flats with shared bathroom(s), kitchen and a common area with 2 to 4 bedrooms. Cleaning and upkeep are sometimes provided by the owner. They are fully equipped and centrally located. A private room costs approximately 400 Euros/month (approx. $490)and a room shared with a family member or friend costs 600 Euros/month (approx. $735).
2. You can sign up for a deluxe apartment. These can be studio apartments with full services within a converted townhouse or historical building or a shared apartment. The decoration is nicer, there is Internet connect, better security. All expenses and cleaning are included. All centrally located. Ask for specific details and photos. Prices range from 500 euros/month to 800 euros/month.
Note: All quoted rent prices can fluctuate according to the exchange rate and the individual landlord's requirement.
3. Room with a Spanish family with either breakfast or half board. Available only in Madrid and Sevilla.
Costs:
Madrid:
Single room + breakfast only: 139€/week;
Single room + half board: 173€/week
