  Operator, z którego bedziesz korzystać zależy tylko od Twojego wyboru, jednakże my proponujemy bardziej ekonomiczne "Lokutorium" aby dzwonić do Polski lub zakupienie karty telefonicznej i korzystanie z kabin publicznych-decyzja należy do Ciebie. • The public transportation system of Madrid is very convenient. The metro pass also includes the use of busses.
  * If you are coming at the beginning of the month, it's better to purchase the monthly unlimited pass, called "Abono". To get this card, first you need to go to a tobacco store (were you can also buy stamps, phone cards and transportation passes) with your passport and a passport size picture. Abono costs less if you are under 21, but it will take 1-2 weeks to receive it, so apply right away. As soon as you receive the card, you can get the actual pass at a ticket machine or a ticket booth at any metro station. Machines take 5, 10, and 20 euro bills, so if you have larger bills with you, you need to change them beforehand because not all stations have the booths.
  * If you are coming at the end of the month, it is cheaper to purchase the 10 trip pass. Metro is open from 6am till about 12:30am, so if you need to go somewhere after hours, it's better to take a taxi, which is not too expensive here, especially if you split the cost with other people.

Aby otrzymać ten bilet musisz udać siÄ™ do kiosku tzw. Tabacos (tam także możesz nabyć znaczki pocztowe, koperty, itp.), zabierajÄ…c ze sobÄ… paszport aby wypeÅ‚nić formularze, do których potrzebujesz numer paszportu, imiÄ™, nazwisko, datÄ™ urodzenia, tutejszy adres zamieszkania, itd. Jeżeli nie masz 21 lat "Abono" bÄ™dzie kosztowaÅ‚o CiÄ™ mniej, gdyż bÄ™dzie to "Abono Joven", jednakże aby je otrzymać musisz czekać ok.2 tygodnie. Po otrzymaniu tegoż karnetu możesz kupić bilet magnetyczny na odpowiedniÄ… strefÄ™ - zgodnie ze strefÄ… karnetu i miejscem Twojej pracy. Możesz także zaopatrzyć siÄ™ w bilety, które uprawniajÄ… ciÄ™ do 10 przejazdów.
  * Jest to ważne, szczególnie w przypadku, gdy przyjeżdżasz tutaj pod koniec miesiÄ…ca. Bilet magnetyczny możesz nabyć w kiosku tzw. Tabacos, w każdej kasie biletowej metra lub w automatach na każdym przystanku metra. Metro jest czynne od godz. 6.00 do 1.30 w nocy.
   
• Most stores are open from 8-10am till about 5-8pm, but close from 2 to 5pm for "siesta". On Saturdays they are open shorter hours and do not open at all on Sundays, except for the first Sunday of the month. This does not apply, however, to large shopping centers and department stores, such as El Corte Inglés.

• It is very easy to find things to do in Madrid. Guia del Ocio is a magazine with listings of restaurants, clubs, theatres, cinema, etc. which comes included in your orientation packet and is a great source of ideas about what to do. It comes out weekly and costs only 1 euro. Besides that, you can stop by a tourist office at Plaza Major and pick up "What's in Madrid" magazine that comes out every month in English. On Thursday there is a big international party called Palacio Gaviria (Calle Arenal, Metro Sol). The entrance is free with the Forocio International Friends Club ID card, which is also included in the orientation packet. A great start of the program and a way to meet people from all over the world is he course of Spanish at the beginning of your trip.
